Large numbers and short scale notation
ID:CVLNSS

Video Overview

Large numbers are numbers that are significantly larger than the numbers we use in everyday life, for instance in simple counting or in monetary transactions. Very large numbers often occur in fields such as mathematics, cosmology, accounting and statistical mechanics. These large numbers are named using a specific number notation and this varies based on where you might be in the world. In America the system notation uses the SHORT SCALE approach, whereas the English, French and German systems use the LONG SCALE approach. In this tutorial we will look at the difference between the two most common large-number naming systems.
