A tax practitioner is anyone who renders tax advice to any other person in respect of the Income Tax Act, and is paid to provide such service. The tax profession is regulated by the various governments differently depending on the country. There are basically three approaches to the regulation of tax practitioners. These will be briefly discussed, but the emphasis in this tutorial will be on the regulation of tax practitioners in South Africa.
