In the modern office or workplace, there are more electronic filing systems than manual filing systems. The word system suggests that something is organised and co-ordinated. Filing is the storing of information in a logical and ordered way so that it can be easily found when needed This, however, is not always the case with some filing systems. In large corporations where there are numerous employees, filing systems may be complicated and diverse. When there is a large variety of information to be stored, there is also a greater chance of error. Misfiling and loss of document and information can lead to time wasting, frustration, miscommunication, and blame. This will, ultimately, have a detrimental affect on any business large or small. Filing systems should be convenient to access, logical, and well-planned. Everyone in the organisation should adhere to the filing system in place.
