Video Overview

Employees who have been paying contributions to the Unemployment Insurance Fund can claim from the Fund if they lose their jobs or cannot work. The five kinds of benefits covered by UIF include unemployment benefits, illness benefits, maternity benefits, adoption benefits and death benefits. UIF contributions are paid over by employers to SARS at the end of each month. These contributions are administered by the Department of Labour. In this video we will explore how these monthly contributions are calculated.
