Gross income: special inclusions
ID:CVGIS
Video Overview
In another tutorial we discussed the different types of income that should be included under gross income. We noted that one of these types was special inclusions. These special inclusions are the focus of this tutorial. We also noted that, generally speaking, it is income of a revenue nature that should be included in gross income, and not income of a capital nature. We will learn in this tutorial that sometimes even income of a capital nature should be included under gross income. If income is of a capital nature and falls within the special inclusions listed in paragraphs (a) to (n), which appear under the definition of gross income in the Income Tax Act, then it should be included in gross income.
